Post-Surgery Pain

You will experience a moderate to severe pain level for the first few days after surgery. Pain is usually the worst on the third or fourth day after the surgery.

Pain, especially from swallowing, may last from 10 days to 3 weeks after surgery. Ear pain is common after surgery because one of the nerves to the ear passes near the tonsil area. It does not mean you have an ear infection.

Pain medication will be prescribed to you and should be taken as directed.

Your cyst may need surgery if you are past menopause or if your cyst:

  • Fails to disappear after several menstrual cycle.
  • Grows bigger
  • Appears unusual on the ultrasound
  • Creates pain

When to See a Doctor

The following symptoms are considered a medical emergency and you should seek medical help immediately:

  • Sudden, severe abdominal pain
  • Pain with fever and vomiting
  • Faintness, dizziness, or weakness
  • Rapid breathing

If you have a cyst, these symptoms may reflect a ruptured cyst. Once in a while, a large, ruptured cyst causes heavy bleeding.

After the Procedure

Due to the local swelling of the treated area after the procedure, more snoring can be expected. Positive changes can be observed in one or two weeks and continues to happen for up to many months.

It is possible to go home as soon as you feel comfortable. Almost all patients can easily drive by themselves home from the hospital. It is important to sleep with your head raised on 2-3 pillows for a few nights after the procedure.

The Procedure

Before the actual procedure, your doctor will give you an oral spray to begin anesthetizing the throat area. After the throat is anesthetized to a certain extent, your doctor will give about 3 small injections in the roof of the mouth.

The majority of patients find that the process of anesthetizing the throat to be of only little discomfort.

You will be sited upright and fully awake during the procedure. Your doctor will describe the procedure and demonstrate the equipment.


Over 5M cc in Blood-letting Project by Yanhee International Hospital

To date, Yanhee International Hospital has collected a total of 5,970,700 cc of blood this week, during its quarterly blood-letting program which the hospital started 8 years ago, as one of its major community projects to help those with hematologic problems and need blood transfusions, as disclosed by its CEO, Dr. Supot Sumritvanitcha.

This very “warm” activity done four times a year, in coordination with the Red Cross Society of Bangkok, Thailand and the Wachira Hospital, not only warms the body with blood for the sick, but their hearts as well.


Acute Appendicitis


Treatment for appendicitis generally needs the removal of the inflamed appendix (appendectomy). You will be given antibiotics before surgery to contain the infection.


Your surgeon will perform appendectomy either as an open surgery or a laparoscopic surgery.

In an open surgery, your surgeon will access and remove your appendix by way of a 2-to-4-inch incision on the lower right side of the abdomen.
