Q1 : Will I be asleep during surgery?

A1 : Local anesthesia with sedation will eliminate pain and reduce anxiety, but you need not be asleep unless there is a special indication for it.

Q2 : How long will I be in the hospital?

A2 : The surgery takes about an hour to do. You may go home after the surgery but will be asked to return for follow up within a week.

Male-to-Female Sex Reassignment Surgery

Special Requirements

You need to be of legal age, in good health, and must submit the following requirements before your pre-surgical assessment for SRS MTF

1. Letter of recommendation from two psychiatrists (one from a psychiatrist in patient’s own locality and one from a Thai psychiatrist) stating the following:

a. Diagnosis of male with Gender Identity Disorder

b. Declaration of successful real life experience as a female for at least 1 year


Male Breast Reduction

Q1 : Will I be awake during surgery?

A1 : You will be asleep under general anesthesia.

Q2 : How long do I need to stay in the hospital?

A2 : You will be admitted for 1-2 nights only but will be asked to return for follow up 7-10 days after surgery.

Q3 : How long is the recovery period?

A3 : Most of the swelling and bruising present after surgery will abate over 2 weeks. Healing will gradually occur and full scar maturation is expected to be complete by 6-12 months.
